Son of the Mob, a fantastic book written by Gordon Korman is a book that is meant for all teens or young adults. It is an interesting novel that pulls you towards it. The protagonist of the story Vince Luca is a typical boy who is the son of an organizer who is the head of the biggest criminal gang known as the Mafia. Vince is respected everywhere cause his father is the head of the Mafia. If he gets low scores teachers would increase it in the fear that they will be killed by the father if they don’t pass Vince. Instead of taking advantage, Vince is a type of boy who is worried that his parents standing won’t get him anywhere in the future. He is afraid he will not be able to get a job in a company that he wants to due to the cause he has a family background being related to the mafia gang. In addition as the story goes on Vince gets a girl friend whose father is the head of a FBI Organization and is in search for Vince’s dad to get him behind bars. This was another case why Vince was worried. So Vince had decided to stay with his girl friend and manage to keep the families far. That is how Korman had kept me interested in his book. I was curious and was willing to find out that how Vince manages to stay close to his family, girlfriend’s family and his girlfriend. In other words how he can have all of them in his life. This was the interesting part. Well I can relate this story to Romeo and Juliet except the difference that Romeo and Juliet die which causes their families to unite but in this story they never die and the families don’t unite. The over all moral of the story is that, “Nothing is impossible, everything is possible”. And this moral teaches me that you should always give the best shot you got and never loose hope. Indeed that is the very thing that I am trying to do in my studies so I can have a good future! I will rate this book a five, it didn’t get boring and kept my interest with such realistic words and descriptions used in the novel.
